A door and panel layout would be considered one of the most common applications. They normally are used in applications between 34" to 60" wide and can be installed on top of a tub application as well as a shower pan. The door can be mounted either on the left or right side. Depending on the hinges used for this application, doors are typically 28" in width and the remainder is the fixed panel. Typically these layouts use a wall mounted hinge, but pivot hinges can be used along with a streamline header system. This will allow the back of the door to offset. This offset allows the door to clear obstructions like tile protrusions and towel bars. Pivots also allow the door to be hinged in the center of the opening and not strictly off a wall. The additional header bracing will also minimize shower door enclosure flex.
